Who Is Acupuncture Suited For?
Acupuncture is appropriate for everyone as long as it is in the hands of a qualified professional. I have treated many pregnant women very successfully.
My youngest patient has been 3 months old – my oldest, 96 years old. And I have worked with many cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy.
For sure, the approaches and strategies appropriate for some of these particular groups of patients are unique and need to be understood well by the practitioner. But I have had wonderful results with all ages and types of people.
In the original source text (the 2000 year old Nei Jing Su Wen) from which all acupuncture is derived, there is only one category of patient for whom acupuncture is contraindicated; people who are just too depleted and too weak. For them, many months of nourishment is a prerequisite.
